Creating a truly inclusive environment goes beyond good intentions — it starts with everyday actions. In this interactive session, we’ll explore what it really means to create a safe space, why it matters in both personal and professional settings, and how we as women can lead by example. We’ll discuss the role of inclusive language, how to recognize and address unconscious bias, and share practical tips you can use in conversations, meetings, and networking. Through meaningful activities and reflection, you’ll leave with tools to build trust, foster connection, and make others feel genuinely seen and valued — wherever you are.

About Maureen:

Maureen Kolb currently serves as the Incubator Director at Hagerstown Community College, where she fosters innovation and supports emerging entrepreneurs. In her role, Maureen develops programs to meet the needs of local businesses, builds partnerships with stakeholders, and oversees the strategic planning and operations of the incubator. With a strong focus on program management and client relations, she ensures the success of the incubator’s initiatives while driving economic development in the region.

In addition to her work at HCC, Maureen co-runs Sports Xplore, a youth sports camp she operates alongside her wife. Together, they provide children ages 5–12 with the opportunity to explore various sports in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment, helping to promote healthy habits and self-confidence through active play.

Previously, Maureen held various leadership positions, including Business, Certification, and Licensure Program Manager at HCC and Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Wilkes University. Her background spans program development, strategic planning, customer service, and marketing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and completed her MBA at Wilkes University.
