Please join the National Park Service, and the C&O Canal Trust for an invasive species management project!

The C&O Canal National Historical Park follows the Potomac River for 184.5 miles between Georgetown and Cumberland, and is one of the most visited national park sites in the country. The C&O Canal Trust is the park’s official nonprofit partner, committed to supporting the park and local communities through fundraising initiatives, expanding accessibility and broadening support through programs that highlight the Park’s historical, natural, and cultural heritage. For this event, we are partnering with the Alice Ferguson Foundation for their Potomac Watershed Cleanup.

When: Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:00am – 12:00pm
Where: Weverton
What: Trash Removal

All ages are welcome, but parents do remain responsible for children the entire time. No drop-offs. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours are available; just bring your forms from the school and we’ll be happy to sign them.

Registration:

Pre-registration is required. Please register each person, adult or child, who will be participating in the project. Once your registration has gone through, you will receive links to the two required forms, the Volunteer Service Agreement (VSA) and the Media Release, available in both English and Spanish. You may either bring them with you signed by hand or fill them out onsite. We will have blank forms available. Digital signatures of any kind cannot be accepted.

Additional Notes:

Work supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and PPE will be provided. Bottled water and snacks will not be available onsite, so be prepared with your own provisions.  

Wear weather-appropriate layers, including footwear. Close-toed shoes are required.
