National Road Museum Open House & Exhibit Preview

National Road Museum Open House & Exhibit Preview

Saturday, April 27, 2024 (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Visit the future home of the National Road Museum during Boonsboro's Spring Jubilee event to see previews of the exhibits coming to this highly anticipated museum, and learn how you can support this exciting new addition to Boonsboro's main street. During the open house, a special gallery of photographs will be on display, author and historian Bob Savitt will be providing history talks, and the Boonsboro Trolley Station Museum next door will also be open for visitors. Many other activities and events for all ages will be taking place throughout downtown Boonsboro at the same time, so bring the whole family! This event and the Trolley Station Museum are both free, though donations are welcome. The National Road - known locally as Alt. Rt. 40, 144, and portions of Rt. 40 - was the "Road That Built The Nation," the first federally funded highway in America and the first primary road to connect with the Ohio River. The new museum will examine the impact the National Road and transportation had and continues to have on our nation.
