The Washington County Free Library, home of the nation’s first book wagon, established in 1905, is rolling out the next generation Bookmobile!
Serving the Cumberland Valley and surrounding areas since 1898, Washington County Free Library (WCFL) is excited to continue building on a legacy of innovation as they meet the needs of the community.
For over a century, this organization has made education, entertainment, culture, and social connection more accessible. This new bookmobile can access stops that the bookmobile bus cannot due to its size. The new bookmobile allowing for carts of books to be taken off the vehicle, so that books can be taken into community centers, schools, daycares, and senior care facilities and homes for patrons to access even more easily.
Join the City of Hagerstown's Department of Community and Economic Development on Tuesday, May 21 at 10am at the back entrance to the WCFL at 100 South Potomac Street, for the dedication and grand opening of the new Bookmobile. Let's celebrate the Washington County Free Library continuously adding more resources and services to meet the changing needs of the community it serves.
